Right now, everyone is spending a lot of time at home. All that time now has you wanting to add living space to your home, built to your exact style and specifications. Let the experienced, meticulous craftsmen of Miller Custom Exteriors create your custom room!
If you’ve been dreaming about adding on to your home, don’t settle for a manufactured “ready-to-install” patio room. Over the years, we have installed both those and custom-built rooms in Northeast Ohio. We have found the results and value to our customers are far exceeded by a custom-built room. There are several reasons why. This blog explains those reasons and shows you why custom-built is the way to go!
1. Quality construction
We build a custom room from the ground up at your home. Our sunroom crew leader is a carpenter with over 30 years of construction experience. He and Ed Miller, our production director, can create anything you can envision. Wood ceilings, beams, trapezoid windows, and stone accents are all elements we have built into room additions we’ve done recently. While some of these things can be added to a manufactured room, those extras can drive up the cost of that type of room.
2. Value for your money
A custom-built room does cost more than a manufactured room–at least when Miller Custom Exteriors installs it. But when you compare other, larger patio room companies’ prices for pre-fabricated rooms, you will probably find that even their basic, no-frills room will cost you more than our custom-built one. In addition, the basic room is probably only usable in warmer weather (called a three-season room). In contrast, a custom-built room can be just as weather-tight as the rest of your home. Manufactured rooms also come in only a few basic colors, such as white, beige, or tan.
But the real show of value is when the project is finally finished. Our customers have been delighted at the value they receive for the money spent on a custom sunroom addition.
3. Resale value
According to research at the University of Notre Dame, pre-fabricated sunrooms do not significantly increase a home’s resale value. They often are one of the first things a new homeowner will remove from their house. If resale value is the top priority when you have a room installed, there may be better choices than a manufactured room. A custom room addition adds to your home’s square footage and increases your home’s value.
